This is the archetypal view that the first people of our species could have seen.
The latest scientific evidence shows that the first humans displaying modern behaviour lived at the southern tip of Africa. Because we all share the same ancestors, this is therefore quite possibly the original home of everyone alive today.
Through genetic testing and the archeological record we are learning that our species was not born amongst the grasslands and thorn-trees of the East African savannah, but rather on the rocky shores and beaches at the tip of Southern Africa.
